Kent Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that provides highly personalized 24-hour a day services for adults who have a broad spectrum of developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, and/or physical disabilities.  Since 1970, the mission of Kent Center has been to ensure the safety and well being of each individual family member, treat them with respect and dignity and provide enriching opportunities and choices which will enable them to independently live, work and contribute positively to our community to the greatest extent of their abilities.

We are hiring a full-time Registered Nurse to work out of our Chestertown office. The chosen candidate will be a solutions-focused, caring individual who enjoys supporting the disabled.  Our team works collaboratively to help individuals with disabilities achieve their goals, the chosen candidate will enjoy working in a team setting. 

Job duties include: 

  • Provide training/assistance in areas of Physical/Mental Health including nutrition, personal health and hygiene, exercise and recreation. 
  • Provide training/assistance in areas of Personal and Social Skills including boundaries, communication skills and personal life goals. 
  • Performs record notation and other required documentation.
  • Performs Activities of Daily Living (ADL) management and supervision. May perform ADL functions where necessary including cooking, cleaning, laundry, banking, transporting, or shopping, etc.
  • Performs medication administration & monitoring.
  • Assists persons served to become independent and to encourage efforts towards community integration.
  • Documents all interactions, observations, assessments, plans, etc. Completes paperwork and reports as assigned.
  • Participates and has input into Individual Planning and ensures compliance with Individual / Behavior plans.
  • Performs crisis assessment, intervention, and management.
  • Performs supportive counseling.

Candidate must:

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Have a degree from a college or accredited nursing school (RN or BSN). 
  • Be in possession of a drivers license, with a clean driving record. 
  • Be able to pass a drug screen and background check. 
  • Be caring, organized, respectful, positive and accountable.
