Kent Center, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization that provides highly personalized 24-hour a day services for adults who have a broad spectrum of developmental disabilities, such as intellectual disabilities, autism, cerebral palsy, and/or physical disabilities.  Since 1970, the mission of Kent Center has been to ensure the safety and well being of each individual family member, treat them with respect and dignity and provide enriching opportunities and choices which will enable them to independently live, work and contribute positively to our community to the greatest extent of their abilities. 

We are seeking a full-time team leader to join our team, working out of our Chestertown office.  The ideal candidate would be a self-starter willing to working independently, supervising a diverse and growing staff. This position requires someone to be creative, organized and dependable.  Primary job duties include:

  • Community outreach to learn about available job openings and promote Kent Center candidates.
  • Oversees documentation, program logs, headcounts, behavior sheets and audits, shift paper work.
  • Supervises/Performs medication monitoring, ensuring adequate documentation and procedures.
  • Role models positive behavior while assisting youth towards independence and encourages efforts towards recovery /rehabilitation.
  • Oversees/Performs basic career assessments.
  • Conduct weekly workshops to grow client's skill base and reinforce good job performance habits.
  • Assist clients with employment preparation, including resume and application creation, interview prep and job searches.
  • Work collaboratively with county and state agencies to maximize offerings to clients, and ensure appropriate funding.
  • Is responsible for and monitors client safety and safe work environment, i.e. inspects building, ensures that doors and windows are locked and that safety equipment and lights are working, and program supplies are adequate.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with area employers to best support clients and ensure a positive employment experience.
  • Responsible for identifying staffing needs, coordinating with human resources, interviewing, following hiring procedures, & submitting paperwork.
  • Supervises use of time, while ensuring overtime is approved and hours worked are scheduled effectively.
  • Implements team building events and/or staff morale incentives to promote a healthy working environment.
  • Demonstrates leadership by following all policies and procedures about employee behavior, dress code, professionalism, and performance levels.
  • Performs timely scheduled staff meetings with shift supervisors and general staff as required.
  • Participates and has input into treatment planning and ensures compliance with treatment plan.
