Kent Center is a nonprofit organization that provides highly personalized 24-hour services to adults with a broad spectrum of intellectual and developmental disabilities.  Based in Chestertown, MD our staff supports the people we serve to their fullest potential by ensuring their safety and well-being, treating them with respect and dignity and providing enriching opportunities and choices.  


We are hiring for a Health Care Assistant for our Day Program. Position supports the nursing program with appointments, medications and emergencies.  This person must be organized, personable, and able to juggle multiple tasks.  Training will be provided for the right candidate.


Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver's license. Must present credentials that are current and valid and meet safe driving requirements. Must submit to a driving record and criminal background screening. Must be capable of satisfactorily performing all job functions and tasks with minimal supervision. Must be able to maintain the highest level of ethical standards and professional relationships. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, including an excellent command of the English language.

Schedules, transports and accompanies individuals to and from medical/ dental appointments.
Administers prescribed medication and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques under the license of the delegating RN.
Completes quarterly Individual Medical Records Audits.
Attends to comfort and safety needs of individuals.
Observes individuals, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor of individual's condition and reaction to medications, treatments, and significant incidents.
Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of individuals.
Assists with activities of daily living.
Participates in department and/or quality improvement activities.
Maintains awareness of and abides by applicable laws, regulations, and accreditation standards governing the provision of services to individuals with developmental disabilities



The Health Care Assistant acts in accordance with established guidelines for ethical conduct and Maintains an attitude of cooperativeness, flexibility, and professionalism. They take action within time frames and at quality levels as expected and/or directed by supervisor. Is amenable to supervision. Adheres to all program & corporate Policies and Procedures as written.
